Miles & Mandates presented by Punjabi Trucking 360
Miles & Mandates is the podcast for everyone with skin in the game of commercial trucking. Every mile driven happens inside a web of regulations, court rulings, and industry shifts — and the gap between knowing them and ignoring them is the difference between a thriving operation and a costly mistake.
Each week, we break down the laws being enforced, the verdicts being handed down, and the evolving threats on the ground — from FMCSA compliance and landmark Supreme Court decisions to cargo fraud and the economic pressures squeezing carriers from every direction. We translate the legal and regulatory language that runs this industry into plain talk that drivers, fleet owners, brokers, shippers, and anyone moving freight for a living can actually use.
Because out here, the road doesn't stop — and neither do the mandates.

The Supreme Court just reshaped freight in two major ways — and the market is already reacting. One week after the unanimous Montgomery v. Caribe Transport II ruling, truckload spot rates have hit all-time highs, surpassing even COVID-era records. Brokers can no longer hide behind federal preemption, and capacity is tightening fast.
The Court also refused to let Florida sue California and Washington over issuing CDLs to undocumented immigrants — but Justice Thomas' blistering dissent signals this fight isn't over. We break down the ruling, the Harjinder Singh case, and what Florida, California, and Washington failed to do when vetting applicants.
Plus, Indiana flagged 283 undocumented CDL holders at weigh stations in just 90 days. Mexican freight is surging 13% year-over-year, but the July 1 USMCA review could change everything. States are now forcing "super speeders" to install the same speed-limiting tech truckers have dealt with for years. And OOIDA is pushing back hard on a proposed 20% UCR fee hike — calling the program a wasteful slush fund that should be scrapped entirely.
It's a lot. Let's get into it.
